Amethyst scepter – Les Droites, Mont-Blanc

Amethyst is a scarce mineral in the Alps mountains, especially in the Mont-Blanc area. This specimen consists in two amethyst scepters on smoky quartz matrix. It was found by the famous cristallier Christophe Peray in the South Face of Les Droites (around 3800m high). That’s one of the very few scepter specimens still on matrix that I’ve seen from this locality. The specimen is untouched, some trimming job could be made for a better render.

  • Locality : Les Droites, Mont Blanc, Chamonix, Haute-Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France
  • Size : 86 mm × 90 mm × 81 mm
