Here is a outstanding complex pink cubo-octahedral fluorite from a single find made by C. Peray near the Aiguille Verte mount, famous for its pink fluorites. These fluorite shapes are very rare. A great constrat is made by the crystal itself lying on its adularia covered matrix. Size : 61 mm x 42 mm x 25 mm.

Fluorite & Quartz

This specimen consists of a single pink fluorite crystal on its granit matrix with some quartz. The main quartz crystal is actually a tiny gwindel. The fluorite itself is perfect but naturally etched, which makes it unsual for the locality. Maybe it was once a perfect octahedron, some million years ago. Size : 50 mm x 39 mm x 18 mm.

Here is an other curiosity from the Mont-Blanc mountains: the granit matrix is covered with complex pink fluorite crystals. Their crystallization looks like a second generation of octahedrons was growing on the first generation fluorites. A very unusual but beautiful example of pink fluorite. The tiny black spots are hematite flakes. It comes from the amazing find of C. Peray & S. Khayati in 2016. Size : 43 mm x 35 mm x 24 mm.

Scarce purple fluorite cubes on smoky quartz matrix. The specimen is a floater and the quartz is fully crystallized. Purple fluorite is scarce in the Mont-Blanc, much more than pink fluorite. Here is a fine desirable quartz cluster from the famous La Gardette mine. The brightness and transparency of the quartz from this locality put these specmins among the best in the World. This specimen is damageless and shows a very typical pale yellow tone, coming from iron inclusions. Nowadays, such specimens are nearly impossible to find because the mine was closed long time ago. This water-clear gwindel comes from a famous find, at pretty low altitude, near the Argentière glacier, made some years ago. You can read about this find in the amazing french minerals magazine “Le Regne Mineral” N° 103. The specimen is well twisted and damageless. Its shape is very typical of the Mont-Blanc gwindels, less elongated than Swiss specimens. Size : 70 mm x 67 mm x 42 mm.

Smoky Quartz “Gwindel” or “Sucre”

Here is an unusal alpine specimen from the French Alps found near the Leschaux glacier, Mon-Blanc). This one is a rare closed gwindel, also called “sucre” by the French crystal hunters, closed gwindels are scarce but this one is pretty unique since it’s naturally etched on some parts. Smoky Quartz “Gwindel” & Hematite

Here is clear smoky gwindel quartz on matrix from the French Alps. This big specimen comes from a unique find with smoky quartz and hematite near the Talèfre glacier. This combination is not very common in the Mont-Blanc mountains. Some of the best specimens of this find are visible at the Chamonix mineralogy museum. This specimen comes from a unique find in 2015. It’s a scarce pink fluorite crystal, with complex crystallization, on its matrix. This shape is very unusual in the Mont-Blanc and it may be the first time that we see this kind of crystallization from this locality. Gwindel Quartz & Chlorite

Nice colorless quartz specimens coming from the same pocket . Both of them were found during summer 2015 near the “Couvercle” mountain shelter. The gwindel and the quartz cluster are damageless. Very lght chlorite give some relief to these pieces. Size of the gwindel: 80 mm x 48 mm x 29 mm and size of the quartz cluster: 105 mm x 60 mm x 50 mm.
